There is no doubt that those who start new ventures are of a different species. Over a period of time, I have seen those who are of this breed think differently, perceive things in a different manner, act differently, maybe even walk differently ( haven't done research on this, though!). There is nothing good or bad about it. Its just distinct.
I would again like to specifically mention that those who start radical ventures or something thats innovative maybe a breakthrough idea fall into this league more than the other startups. And when I mean entrepreneurs, I mean those that introduce an out of the world proposition or those who tweak an existing concept/idea/system to again create an innovation.
I would like to correlate this to the Hindu religion and its Gods. Lord Brahma is said to be "The Creator" and Lord Shiva -"The Destroyer".
Those who 'create' ideas/venture have an influence of Lord Brahma on them and therefore act in this fashion. I am sure like the temples of Brahma on this planet, even this set of human beings in rare. Obviously, people who work for others and/or are doing a job are in majority.
Those who get influenced by Brahma may decide to call it day if they are working for someone and start something on their own. But again very few dare to do it- again a minority.
There is another set of individuals who create a product and systematically disintegrate it after doing so.These are influenced by the Destroyer-Lord Shiva. Take the case of Sony. After developing a product amidst secrecy and till the time it introduces it into the market, it already begins the task of destroying the technology or maybe upgrading it before the competition catches on the old one. I feel even those who develop a product/concept and later maybe sell of their idea to a VC or other company fall in this category of "Destroyers".
Any thoughts?

Pankaj, great one again. Thanks for the deep radical perspactive of Entreprenuership with the Indian Mythological system. Loved that one.
Would like the say that its very true that one will find very few "Brahma" in society, But dont you think it should be that way, if every one is a Creater then we will run out of creative space and that creation will loose it's importance. Imagine having 10 Taj Mahals in the world!! Thats why Emporor Shahajaan Cut of the hands of the creator!
I also would like to add, according to Indian Mythology system works this way, Lord Brahma- The Creator, Lord Vishnu- Care taker "Palankarta", Lord Shiva- The Destroyer.
And i think asx you rightly mentioned Business more or less falls in the same framework. Like the Sony Example you put.
I would like to sum up with I wish there must me rare Entreprenuers, as rare as Brahma, Many Vishnu's As many as Vishnu's incarnations, and As many as Shiva.
Innovation will lead to Implementation and Maturity which will eventually leads to distruction and distruction will leads to Innovation.
Thank you very much for giving direction, for everyone to think on this angle.
Cheers!
Hey I think there is tremendous variety in your thought and this combination of mythology and business is a product of it.
I would like to add that according to mythlogy Lord Shiva is the supreme soul and Lord Vishnu and Brhma have emerged out of Shiva's body.To compare to business Brhma is more like R&D and biz dvlpmnt and Vishnu is like the strong backbone of admin and operations on which everything keeps running smoothly. Both these work like two arms responsible creation and working of the universe. But like everthing in nature has a balance and laws in which it works , there is a third part of shiva responsible destruction. Destruction of old, removal of excess and unfitting without which the balance of nature is disturbed. Like a death of a big animal supports and creates many smaller ones and the cycle of life continues. The real shiva is like an all encompassing soul pervading through everthing and present everywhere, like darkness which is always around us we only temporarily make it go away, but forget that the whole universe is dark, with spots of light in it.
An entrepreneur has to be all this creative, practical, ruthless etc. to always stay balanced in all conditions,he has to be present in the creation, working and destruction of parts or whole of businesses. Any entrepreneur is an entrepreneur with varying degress of aptitude and attitude. But whether he is creating an mind blowing organisation or just aping some known model, there is always an element of enterprise. ofcourse the success and level of greatness it achives depends on a lot of factors, integriety and tenaciousness among chief ones.I think if there is something we want to take from the trinity then lets take the ever changing patterns in the cyle of life and sense of balance
Regards.
